Da Range is a special place, we have an awesome facility that continues to grow. But, we need help, we need some volunteers willing to spend a little time keeping our range in tip top shape. Here's where we are needing help:
Brass Bucket Brigade. Our shooters are picking up their brass, but we need help with the collection of the brass from the buckets and proper disposal. This is a weekly or 10-day schedule. Yes, the brass can be recycled, but it would require sorting before taking to the recycle center, we can explain the process.
Garbage Detail. We only have one garbage can, but it needs weekly pick up and disposal, and a new plastic bag replaced (bags supplied).
Ten Finger Pick up. Yes, there are some who just cannot pick up after themselves. We need a volunteer willing to pick up the stuff that seems to collect around the targets, like the plastic pink flamingo who appeared the other day.
Mabel. Mabel is a godsend for keeping our gear safe and accessible, but it needs a keeper. The Keeper will keep our gear organized, check supplies and targets. BTW, did you see the awesome NRL22 steel board that was hung the other day? NICE!
Weed whacking. The Rhodes mowing crew does a great job of mowing, but their big mower cannot get around all the stands. Especially when the steel is set up. Perhaps a couple of guys are willing to partner to trim around the targets. Oh, but we don't have a weed wracker (at least not yet!).
Targets. Our foam backers occasionally need to be reattached and new tacks added. Requires a portable drill. Then, there is the "Yahoo" who used their shotgun and distroyed the brand new foam backers and wood stands. We prebought enough foam backers for the season. Niles brings them from Minnesota in the fall, saving us shipping. But if we run out, replacements backers are $50 each. Thanks Mr. Yahoo!
We also have the steel plate hangers which are needing some serious work. Anyone handy in working with rust? Well, not rust, but needing some serious elbow grease!
As you can see these jobs may require an hour every week or so, nothing difficult but many hands make light work. If you are interested in helping, or know of a project that needs attention, or can lend a hand please contact Niles or me (our details are below).
